For Halloween this year, advisories participated in a door decorating competition to prepare for the Lower School trick-or-treat through the high school on Halloween day. The contest itself brought out creativity from all the Upper School advisories. It was great to see all the participation throughout the Dawson community! Although there were many incredible and ghoulish looking doors in the Dawson Upper School hallways, three doors really stuck out to the judges of this competition. Mrs. Bauer’s, Mrs. Romano’s, and Mr. Friedman’s advisories were the winners of this year’s door decorating contest.
Nevertheless, the Lower School was still very excited to be invited to trick-or-treat with the Upper Schoolers and even more excited to see all the festive doors they knocked on. The Upper Schoolers and Lower Schoolers alike were very happy to be involved.
In an interview with senior Chloe Sebek, it was revealed that ‘There was a major problem with the system!” She remarks on the lack of candy available to give out to the lower school kids. Some of the Upper School students were too ambitious when handing out candy at the beginning and when the last few kids came around there was unfortunately very little left.
Even so, this activity was a great way for high school students to be involved with the Lower School and it seemed everyone had a great time! Plus, the costumes were amazing!
