“Be mindful, people are actually trying to get work done and don’t block the door,” says Zephyra Simtizis(‘27)
Other Dawson community members couldn’t agree more. The learning commons is meant to be a quiet place where students can go to study, collaborate, and relax. There are times and places to be social, but the quiet zone is not one of them.
“I hate when people come talk to their friends in the quiet zone because whispering is still distracting,” says Luke Vanmiddlesworth (‘27)
Scar Kohler (‘26) says, “The conference rooms aren’t soundproof, be quiet in the quiet space and use your freaking inside voices.”
Some Dawson students are fed up with how noisy the learning commons can get, especially when classes are let out on break, and groups of students walk in and disrupt the peace.
Owen Harsh(‘27) says he is fine working in noisy environments and that he enjoys gaming at the high-top tables regardless of the occasional rambunctious environment
Overall, Dawson students want a quieter and more respectful learning commons where all students can thrive.
