For the first time in over a decade, the Dawson boys brought a full team of four to the state golf tournament in Pueblo.
Early Monday morning, the boys headed to the course. The team started off strong with Oscar Spruil (‘28) leading the tournament for the first five holes. By the end, Junior Kale Macken was leading the Dawson team with a season-best score of 77.
On Tuesday, the team was at the course bright and early again for day 2. Jonah Lodge (‘26) played his final round of Dawson golf and ended it with a flair of greatness, shooting a career low of 73 to secure a 10th-place finish.
“Jonah played out of his mind on that last day, and I couldn’t be happier for him,” Captain Kale (‘27) recalls
“I’m super proud of my teammates,” Captain Jonah (‘26) states, “I made it last year and had no one with me, and while I enjoyed playing and getting that experience, bringing your friends and teammates with you is just a different experience.”
Out of the 60 2A teams that participated in the tournament, the team secured a top 10 finish, with rounds from each golfer being taken into account.
“We’re going to miss Jonah next year,” Kale (‘27) says, “but we’re still gonna go out and compete next year nonetheless.”
