The Dawson boys’ soccer team, after a great first victory over Twin Peaks, got off to a shaky start this week (9/1-9/7) after falling 3-0 to the Denver Christian Thunder. Later in the week, the boys hosted the Windsor Charter Firbirds. After being 3-3 at halftime, the boys scored two quick goals after Oscar Spruil (‘28) was sent off after a second yellow card, bringing the game to a 5-3 lead. Unfortunately, in the last 10 minutes, the boys conceded three goals, ending in a 5-6 loss after a hard-fought game.
“We were very sloppy and made many mistakes that led to the other team scoring.” After the game, Captain Ian Dorris(‘26) shared his thoughts on the week’s game and how he believes these losses will impact the upcoming home game against Sheridan on September 12. saids
“Overall, we haven’t been too bad, yet we are hurting ourselves.” Dorris stated. “We have an uphill battle being down two starters and coming off of two losses, yet we know we have the skill to win and are confident that we can and will win.”
Last year, Dawson conquered Sheriden 4-2. But this year, with Sheridan being 2 – 2 on the season, it should be a great test to see how the boys can bounce back from a rough week.
