The Dawson Boys’ Tennis team had a hot start to their match on Monday, September 22nd.
“We were on our way to winning before the rain cut it short,” Chayse Rawsky (‘26) stated. “However, we are resuming the match on Monday, September 29.”
The boys started the season strong, winning their first 5 matches: Palmer Ridge (4-3), Centaurus (4-3), Severance (7-0), Vail Christian (5-2), and Prospect Ridge Academy (7-0). Unfortunately, the boys have lost the past two hard-fought matches against Peak to Peak and Arvada West, but plan to bounce back with a win against Thomas Jefferson.
The Dawson team currently sits in first place in their league with a 1-0 record.
Last year, the boys ended up being 6-5 overall with a winning record. This year, it’s looking like the boys are on track to break that record with 7 or possibly 8 total wins, which would be the most wins the team has had in six years.
“I think the tennis season as a team has gone great, we have been playing really well,” Eli Karp (‘27) stated. “Especially since we lost 5 people on an 11-person team.”
Through all types of adversity, the team has thrived and continues to win matches against much bigger schools, not planning on stopping anytime soon.
