The famous chicken wing dissection in Anatomy and Physiology had to be postponed due to Dr. Denton purchasing the wrong chicken wings.
When shopping at Walmart in Lafayette, Dr. Denton jumped in excitement when she saw the unusual sale price of the chicken wings. She said, “I was able to buy double of what I bought last year for the same price!”
The next day, the Anatomy students were geared up with their lab coats and gloves, looking forward to the lab. When Dr. Denton opened a package of her sale chicken wings, she realized that they were wingettes. Dr. Denton knew right away that there was a problem and screamed in anger. “This is not going to work! We have to do the lab on a different day!” She said.
This disappointed the Anatomy students and forced Dr. Denton into a frenzy to come up with a new lesson plan for the day. A week later, the lab was performed with full chicken wings. Students were able to take off layers of skin to visualize the muscles they have been learning about in class, such as the biceps and triceps.
When asked about what she learned from this experience, Dr. Denton said “I will never cheap out on my students again! They deserve better!”
