As College Decision Day approaches, seniors and parents reflect on their experience while underclassmen prepare for the rewarding journey to come.
Seniors aren’t the only ones feeling this way about the college process, as parents often feel as if they are applying to college. A parent of a current Dawson senior, who wished to remain anonymous, said he felt that it was “overwhelming, there are so many choices nowadays. The opportunities that are out there are incredible”. Despite the challenges posed by the numerous twists and turns of the college process, he was grateful for Dawson’s support. “Having our son work with the Dawson College counselors was great, and he was able to get into the school of his choice.”
While seniors may have the college process behind them, underclassmen are just starting to dip their toes in the water. “I feel like it is a long and kinda stressful process,” said Freshman Cole Cohen. “I’m excited for college, but not the college process.” High School students at Dawson start their college journey during their junior year and tend to have the bulk of the work completed by the end of their senior year.
