The Dawson tailgate last Friday was a huge success, giving students and faculty the opportunity to watch Soccer, Volleyball, and Tennis while enjoying a BBQ provided by Dawson parents.
Getting students more involved in school spirit and attending sports games is definitely a goal for Dawson School, so a tailgate makes perfect sense. Josh Lanham, the athletic trainer for Dawson, described the attendance, “The amount of people was similar to Dawson Fest” This can be seen as a huge positive as Dawson Fest consistently gets a large crowd. This event was all made possible with the help of volunteering parents who cooked, planned, and decorated.
Dawson’s tailgate was also open to the whole school, which helped the attendance and helped connect the Lower, Middle, and Upper School together for an event Josh Lanham, also an event like this is important because it helps students “Engage in an environment similar to bigger schools.”
Following the successful tailgate event, Dawson Soccer and Volleyball both won their games. Dawson Soccer started with a 14-0 win against Addenbrooke Classical Academy, the tailgate attendance stayed strong watching Volleyball beat Goldenview Classical Academy in 4 sets.
