Mr. Billman joined Upper School Food Chem where students try first hand to make homemade pizza. Recently, the class has been learning about cheese-everything ranging from hard cheese, soft cheese, and vegan cheese while considering the chemical reaction and process of fermentation. This past week, students were challenged with making pizza sauce, dough, and cheese by hand.
When “pizza day” came, students brought a variety of toppings to make their pizza unique. One group decided to go above and beyond and attempt to make a dessert with Nutella, Oreos, and chocolate chips.
Even though the pizza caught on fire multiple times one group member said “Everything went successful, and even though it got a lot of hate because it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing, everyone loved it in the end.” Mr. Billman, a math teacher, brought his pizza-making supplies and helped shape the dough and cook the pizzas, with his knowledge of pizza-making coming from his own business. “Eat pizza, enjoy life” says Billman.
